Jon A. Guidry, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist, and research physician who serves as the Medical Director of Clinical Safety Research at the A&M Rural Community and Health Institute. Dr. Guidry is an expert in clinical psychopharmacology, the treatment of patients with severe mental illness, and the development of patient safety evaluation systems in mental health. Dr. Guidry has over 25 years of experience including 10 years in the university setting, and 17 years of service to the patients at Rusk Psychiatric State Hospital.  Dr. Guidry graduated with a degree in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin (1987), and obtained his MD (1991) and completed his psychiatry residency (1995) at the University of Texas Medical Branch. As Medical Director of Rusk State Hospital, he was the chair of the Texas State Hospital System Patient Safety Evaluation System. Dr. Guidry’s special interest is the development and implementation of systems to improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with severe mental illness on complex drug regimens.
